The completion of a countywide Broadband Strategic Plan is one of the top priorities for SBCAG in 2022 working with the Broadband Consortium of the Pacific Coast (BCPC), regional economic development organizations, cities, county, and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. Federal and State governments have prioritized funding for communities to access high-performing internet in homes, schools, healthcare, libraries and businesses, and work toward digital inclusion across the county. By the end of the year (2022), Santa Barbara communities will better understand the regional needs of broadband internet infrastructure for residents and businesses. It will also highlight opportunities to take action to increase capacity and disaster preparedness, and encourage industry competition. more info...
Jolon Station Band is a Roots Rock, Outlaw country band formed on the Central Coast in 2017. We bring a bit of outlaw country reminiscent of Willie, Waylon and Merle, mixed with the southern style of Lynyrd Skynyrd with a little bluegrass sprinkled in the mix. On Saturday, veterans and members of the honor society and football team from the Santa Ynez Valley High School gather at Oak Hill Cemetery to decorate over 800 graves while others decorate the graves at Solvang and St Marks Cemeteries.At Oak Hill, over 900 veteran graves will be decorated starting at 9AM. The public is invited to view or assist this solemn observance.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, musician “Matthew R. McCarrin” has performed around the world, from France to Japan, as a composer, producer and pianist. His studies at the School for Creative and Performing Arts with Philadelphia’s legendary Trumpeter, Composer, Kevin Rodgers led to an early career as a performer/composer.
Matt performed, as the leader of the band “United Forces,” and with acts like Knoel Scott (Saxophone), and Lucman Ali (drums), members of the Sun Rah Arkestra that indulged his early career as a bandleader. He also performed with Devon Evans (percussion) and (Earl “Chinna” Smith) from “The Wailers,” and as a result ended up in New York City attending the Master Classes of Barry Harris.
Altogether, McCarrin has earned three Platinum plaques, and one Gold plaque for over 5,000,000 copies sold of his commercial work, and a Grammy nomination for his work on “Timeless Journey,”
McCarrin co-founded one of Philadelphia’s fastest growing Independent Record Labels, “Endyo Records,” along side Recording Engineer and Producer partner Roscoe Murphy signing seven singers to the label and completing their albums.
Solvang Veterans Memorial Hall, VFW Post 7139 will conduct a Memorial Day Program which will include the Santa Ynez Valley Chorale, Vandenberg SFB and Post Speakers, American Legion Post 160, and Boy Scouts.
A barbecue hosted by the Solvang Vikings’ Club for veterans and their families will follow.
The Memorial Day remembrance includes a 233-year span in some 60 military actions that claimed 1.4 million lives. Sacrifice is meaningless without remembrance. America’s collective consciousness demands that all citizens be aware of, and recall on special occasions the deaths of their fellow countrymen during and after wartime. The Santa Ynez Valley Rotary club is proud to present the annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Show at Old Mission Santa Inès in Solvang on Monday, July 4th. This fireworks show is considered one of the best on the Central Coast! The event is from 2 - 10 p.m.
The Fireworks Show will begin promptly at 9 p.m. and we suggest that you arrive very early this year as we expect record attendance.
The Fireworks Show is proudly presented by The City of Solvang.
The gates open at 2 p.m., admission is $15 and kids 12 and under are FREE!
Active Military and immediate family members with ID are also free. All Active Military must show IDs at the entrance.
The Fourth of July Festival also includes live entertainment, kids area, street faire vendors and a wide variety of food vendors!
Craft Beer and wine will also be for sale for guests 21+.
Guests may bring in lawn chairs and blankets, but no outside coolers or alcohol. All bags / strollers / carts will be checked upon entering.
The Fireworks Show begins approximately at 9 pm!
