Brekkies opened on June 10, 2019. Some say it was the obvious extension of Petersen's other businesses, "The Coffee House by CHOMP" (2017), and the original "CHOMP burgers, fries, shakes" (2011). All three food establishments are family orientated and kid and dog friendly. "The idea behind Brekkies was to offer a fun, family, and reasonably priced breakfast place for locals and visitors alike." "A lot of friends and family kept telling us to open the original CHOMP for breakfast but when this new location came on the market we jumped at it as an offshoot for a CHOMP breakfast place", says Petersen.
A life time valley resident, Petersen employs over 50 high school and collage aged kids at his businesses, many having their first job at a CHOMP food business.
The menu was designed to offer some items not found in Solvang, with the kitchen staff putting their own spin on many traditional American and Mexican breakfast dishes. The large patio is a special appeal, with a self-serve coffee bar and large tables for groups. Breakfast beer, wine and mimosas are available and seem to be a great hit.
Located right across the main street from Solvang Park, the location is easy to find and features a large parking lot on site. Petersen also owns Mortensen's Danish Bakery ( Solvang 1976) along with his brothers and sisters.

Danish Days Through the Years
For many years Danish Days were sponsored by the Solvang Business Men?s Association. There were no Danish Days during World War II, however, when Solvang devoted its energies to war relief efforts. After the war, Danish Days was resumed in 1946 and became so successful that almost 10,000 people crowded into Solvang to help the little town celebrate its Danish roots. Crowds became so big, in fact, that Solvang was unprepared to cope with them and cancelled Danish Days in 1959 and 1960.
Instead, the town concentrated on preparing for its Golden Jubilee in 1961. September 22, 23, and 24, 1961 saw another celebration ?to be remembered always.? The fun-filled program included a banquet, torchlight parade, dance and song fest, æbleskiver breakfasts, folk dancing, gymnastic performances, barbecue, art exhibit, a street dance, and a colorful historical pageant parade. Following the Golden Jubilee, Danish Days was revitalized and has continued to be celebrated annually, right up to the present.

The Solvang Festival Theater is owned and operated by Solvang Theaterfest, a 501(c)3 corporation. The mission of the THEATERFEST ® is to support and promote quality live performing arts in the Solvang Festival Theater.
Ways in which THEATERFEST ® meets its mission includes: owning and maintaining the Solvang Festival Theater to accommodate performing arts entertainment; maintaining, so long as it is mutually beneficial, an agreement with PCPA to perform in the Solvang Festival Theater; developing and expanding the audience base for the theater; actively developing financial resources to support such theater facilities and theater performances; providing theater facilities for community use; and to present and/or participate in the production and presentation of other live entertainment in the Solvang Festival Theater facilities.
The theater was built by the community in 1974 and hosted its first performance, Once upon a Mattress, while the theater was still under construction. In the years since its construction, the theater has hosted almost 200 PCPA theatrical productions and dozens of concerts and other events.
The facilities are available for rent for community events. See the facilities page for information on renting the theater or its grounds.
The Viking organization places considerable emphasis on its ability to provide financial support to requests that fall within the Viking’s Mission Statement; that is, helping those with medically-related needs. The Vikings primarily fund their month-to-month economic operations with dollars raised from within the Viking membership, however, there are exceptional requests arising from time-to-time that will exceed the Viking’s day-to-day operating resources. In those cases, the Vikings will orchestrate a very focused fundraiser within the community to help meet that exceptional need.
Over the long history of Viking Charities, the community has grown to learn that the Vikings do not present a major fundraiser unless it is the only way to achieve the level of financial support being pursued. And in those cases, the support for such events has always been passionate, and, Viking major fundraisers have traditionally generated an overflowing of community support.
